Tärnättholmarna

What originally were two islands now have joined with the mainland via land bridges of sand.

About the activity

3.5 km from the North Entrance.

Consequently, visitors nowadays can reach the Tärnättholmarna “islands” dry-shod even at high tide. On the exterior side of the islands, there are wonderful rocks for sunbathing and rambling.

On the inner and larger island by Tärnättsundet strait, there is a log cabin with six wide beds and a wood-fired stove. There are also fireplaces and benches here and an earth closet. Tents are allowed here. Fresh water can be obtained from a small brook on the mainland about 400 metres north-west of the cabin site. On the mainland side there is another cabin with four bunks, a wood stove and an earth closet.
